Terms of Service
Last updated: May 23, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Plit mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service") operated by Plit ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Plit, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Please also review our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your personal data and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU/EEA) to use Plit. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are using Plit on behalf of a business, you represent that you are authorized to bind that business to these Terms.
3. Your Account
To use most features of Plit, you must create an account. You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate and complete registration information
- Maintaining the security of your account credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
You must notify us immediately at support@plitapp.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses resulting from unauthorized use of your account.
You may delete your account at any time from within the App (Account → Delete Account). Upon deletion, your data will be removed from our servers within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
4. The Service
Plit provides tools to:
- Scan receipts using AI
- Split bills among multiple people
- Track personal and business expenses
- Connect bank accounts to import transactions, view balances, and detect recurring subscriptions
- Receive AI-powered spending insights, summaries, and answers to financial questions
- Organize expenses into categories, folders, and shared business workspaces
- Track vehicle mileage for personal and business trips (manual or automatic via GPS)
- Export your data as PDF or CSV reports
The Service is provided "as is" and may be updated, modified, or discontinued at any time without notice.
We do not guarantee that AI receipt scanning, transaction categorization, AI insights, or GPS-based mileage measurements will be 100% accurate. You should verify all scanned data, imported bank data, AI-generated content, and recorded trips before sharing, reporting, or acting on them — especially for tax, accounting, or reimbursement purposes.
Plit is a tool for personal expense tracking, bill splitting, spending insights, and mileage logging. It is not a financial institution, bank, payment processor, lending service, investment advisor, accounting service, or fleet management system. We do not handle money on your behalf.
5. Bank Account Integration
Plit offers optional bank account integration powered by Plaid Inc. ("Plaid"). When you connect a bank account:
- You authorize Plit and Plaid to access your account information, including balances and transactions
- You acknowledge that Plaid acts as a data processor and that your use of Plaid is also subject to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy
- Plit never receives or stores your full card number, expiration date, CVV, or banking credentials
- Bank data is synced periodically and may be delayed, incomplete, or temporarily unavailable due to issues at the financial institution or Plaid
- You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of balances and transactions in your actual bank account. Plit is not a substitute for your bank's official records
- You may disconnect a linked account at any time from within the App. Disconnecting deletes the associated tokens and stops further data sync. Previously imported transactions remain in your account until you delete them
- In business workspaces, bank account data linked by one member is not visible to other members. Each user only sees the bank accounts they personally connected
We are not responsible for any financial loss, missed payment, overdraft, or other consequence resulting from inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable bank data.
6. Mileage Tracking and Location Data
Plit offers an optional mileage tracking feature that uses your device's GPS to record vehicle trips. When you enable mileage tracking:
- You authorize Plit to access precise location data while the App is in use, and, with separate consent, while the App is in the background (so that auto-tracking can record trips when you start driving)
- Location data is collected solely to record trip start and end points, route, distance, and duration, and is stored only on your account
- We do not share, sell, or use location data for advertising, marketing, analytics, or any cross-app tracking purpose
- GPS measurements may be inaccurate due to signal interference, device limitations, or environmental factors. You are responsible for reviewing and editing any trip before relying on it for tax, reimbursement, or accounting purposes
- You may stop location collection at any time by ending the active trip in the App or by disabling location permission for Plit in your device's Settings. Stopping collection does not delete previously recorded trips — you can delete those individually
- Mileage tracking, including any deduction estimates or rate calculations, is a tool for personal record-keeping. Plit does not file taxes on your behalf, and you should consult a qualified tax professional regarding the deductibility of business mileage in your jurisdiction
- In business workspaces, mileage data you record is private to your account by default. You may share specific trips or reports as the App permits
We are not responsible for any tax liability, denied reimbursement, audit consequence, or other outcome resulting from inaccurate or incomplete mileage data.
7. AI Features and Financial Advice Disclaimer
Plit uses third-party AI services (currently Google Gemini) to provide:
- Receipt OCR and parsing
- Transaction categorization suggestions
- Spending summaries and insights
- Conversational answers to questions about your spending
AI-generated content is for informational purposes only and does not constitute financial, tax, legal, investment, or accounting advice. You should consult a qualified professional before making any financial decisions based on AI output.
AI models can make mistakes, miscategorize transactions, or produce inaccurate summaries. We are not liable for any decisions you make based on AI-generated content.
When you use AI features, aggregated spending data and your conversation history may be sent to the AI provider. We do not send personally identifying details such as your name, email, or full bank account numbers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
8. Business Workspaces
Plit offers shared business workspaces for collaborative expense tracking. When you create or join a business:
- The business owner controls workspace settings, invitations, and member roles
- Members with assigned roles (manager, accountant, employee) may view, add, or manage shared receipts and reports according to their permissions
- By joining a business, you agree that your shared receipts and contributions are visible to other authorized members
- Personal bank accounts and mileage trips you record inside a business workspace remain visible only to you — other members cannot see them
- You are responsible for ensuring you have authority to share business-related expenses on behalf of the company before adding them
- Business owners may remove members at any time, which revokes their access to the workspace data
9. Subscriptions & Payments
9.1 Free Features
Core features of Plit (AI receipt scanning, basic splitting, receipt library, manual expense tracking, basic mileage logging) are available free of charge with reasonable usage limits.
9.2 Paid Plans
Plit Pro, Plit Business, and Plit Business Pro are paid subscriptions billed monthly or annually. Prices are as displayed in the App and may change with prior notice. All payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) — we do not process payments directly.
Paid plans unlock features such as bank account integration, advanced AI insights, automatic mileage tracking, unlimited business members, exports, and other enhancements as described in the App.
9.3 Free Trials
Where offered, a free trial period allows you to use paid features at no charge. Your subscription begins at the end of the trial unless you cancel before the trial period ends.
9.4 Cancellation & Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID or Google Account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to paid features until then. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective policies. We do not issue refunds directly.
9.5 Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
9.6 Loss of Paid Features
If your subscription expires, lapses, or is cancelled, premium features (including bank integration sync and automatic mileage tracking) may be paused or disabled. Your existing data is preserved and becomes accessible again upon resubscription.

- Harass, threaten, or harm other users

By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, with or without notice. You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive (including Disclaimer, Limitation of Liability, Intellectual Property, and Governing Law) will remain in effect.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Delaware, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
